Studying Anne Frank

Welcome to the first In Our Study project!  The inaugural subject for our study is Anne Frank.  Many of us read her diary as teens, and the upcoming PBS film, along with Francine Prose’s examination of Anne as a writer, offer an excellent impetus to revisit her diary.

We’ll start by reading Prose’s Anne Frank: the Book, the Life, the Afterlife, then decide on an edition of Anne Frank’s Diary.  On April 11, PBS’s film about Anne will air.  All of this should combine for a richer understanding of Anne Frank and her diary…along with one other important component:  lively discussions with you, gentle readers!

The first step will be to acquire Prose’s book.  It is available on Kindle for those of you who use one.  Don’t forget to check your library and its Inter Library Loan program as well.  We’ll follow the below reading schedule for discussions, with probing questions posted on Sunday afternoons.

21 March:  Part I: The Life

28 March: Part II: The Book

4 April: Part III: The Afterlife

11 April: Part IV: Anne Frank in the Schools

If you would like to be added as an author (giving you the ability to post), please email PoMoGolightly AT gmail DOT com with your desired user name and email.  If you have a blog, send along the url for that as well!
